"If someone can prove me wrong and show me my mistake in any thought or action, I shall gladly change. I seek the truth, which never harmed anyone: the harm is to persist in one's own self-deception and ignorance." Marcus Aurelius
This is not a text dissecting religion and atheism. It is not a textbook full of sources to be used for study. It is a document of my personal experience in this life, and the information I have acquired using this time I have, trying to understand the vastly important questions we have. If awareness is raised, then so be it. This is my description of how I personally handle, and personally view the ideology known as Omnism. If 'Omnism' does not describe these ideas adequately in the future, I may look for a new name. Equally, if anything in this text is disproven or considered wrong, it is only my response to say that you know more in that regard from your life experiences than me, and that is accepted.
This isn't one school of thought, just like Christianity/Islam/Judaism are all based off of a similar source. Yet, have fundamental opposing views in many areas.
Omnism is a puzzle. Each faith and belief is a bunch of pieces and gradually you see what fits, what doesn't, what needs to go somewhere else. And its never finished. There is no edge to this puzzle. So the pieces that do not yet fit, should inevitably fit.
I happened to be born in England at the end of the 20th century, where Christianity in the country was fading. However, if I was to be born 50 years before, maybe I'd have a different view. What about 100 years? 200? 1000 years? Many different ideologies were in this country in the late 10th century. Now take me back another thousand years.
The year as we know it is now 4BCE, and this country that we call England is a vastly different place, Mostly under Roman rule. With many different gods in many different regions, on this small spit of land in the corner of the world which most call Britannia, the great Roman gods are taken by the masses, but many groups still worship the old Celtic gods, and tell their stories through speech, not literacy. Given that some of these ancient Celtic god's myths were vastly spread, and separated by the Romans, word of mouth was bound to change these stories over a small period of time, embellishing details, or even forgetting some parts altogether. It would be extremely interesting to eavesdrop into some of these ancient sermons and rituals to see what they all have in common.
Now, imagine travelling across the globe, to other regions. Other kingdoms. Rome is slowly reaching one of its many peaks. Vast ancient gods of old still stand tall as statues in many areas around Eurasia and northern Africa. Jupiter, the great King of the gods, sits statuesque outside a temple and watches over humanity.
In what we call Japan, a Grand Shrine is under construction, dedicated to the sun. The Shinto people believe that she is a sun goddess, called Amaterasu. She is considered to be one of the 'Three Precious Children' along with her siblings.
If we are to now travel to Judea, Herod the great, the client King of Judea has recently died, and his son Herod Antipas has become one of the Tetrarchs of Perea and Galilee. Here, we may find a woman, heavily pregnant. With her husband beside her. The birth of a new ideology is about to be brought forth, causing a rift in the Jewish faith and culture.
Across a small hop over the Arabian Sea, and we will find one of the oldest religions that is still active in the modern world today. Hinduism. Thousands of people flood the Ganges river to worship their gods, and provide sacrifice to them. Each individual man, woman, and child has their own wish and want for this world. Reaching out to what they feel.
Men walk up and down the roads of northern India, spreading the message of Buddha, travelling across many kingdoms, spreading the way of the 'path to Nirvana'.
2000 years ago, the world was a much different place, I'm sure we can all agree. However, it was a time of mass spirituality. Wars were, and still are, being fought over religious ideals, but the call for saving was apparent. Why was this
This is the climax of history leading up to this point where now we have access to all spiritual and religious knowledge, to help guide us in our ways.
